At twenty-three, Georgiana Hall has received no offers of marriage, not is she likely to, for despite being a great beauty, she harbours and inconvenient secret which deters suitors. Captain Asher Brandt, a man haunted by the past that left his face hideously scarred and beast-like, is a man on a mission. To retain guardianship over his young niece, the last living memory of his brother, he must take a wife. Georgiana is determined she won’t be that woman! It seems, however, that both Captain Brandt, and Fate itself, have other ideas!
A desperate carriage journey in a snow storm finds Georgiana an unwelcome house guest at the remote and austere Thornleigh. Her heroes all fallen from their pedestals, will Captain Brandt, too, disappoint Georgie’s ideals? Or will he turn out to be her true hero, after all?

"3 STARS for this Regency Era Romance storyline that is built around two main topics. First, is the sensational petty gossip of the Ton and mostly second, Georgiana & Captain Brandt's attempt for or not a relationship. Poor Georgie, in her time & economic position, I don't think she would have refused Asher that many times. Yes, her pride, maybe 1 for that, but she was already an old maid, a spinster who had been on the market for over 6 years and don't forget her older sister already was a three and thirty year old spinster, plus no dowrey, a widowed mother ending up with a sister of age to be presented with her coming out . They had barely just enough to eat on. Also, it is the storeline I have basically read before and not just in Regency Era, but modern, Western, Victorian & also science fiction. It would have been great if just a new "anything" had been added in to spice it up.
16 UP. No Cursing. SEXUAL CONTENT: NO"

Beauty and the Beast of Thornleigh edition by Kate Westwood Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews :
Beauty and the Beast of Thornleigh edition by Kate Westwood Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
- Beauty and the beast is a favourite trope of mine, but oh this is such a disappointment. I had such high hopes, too. I started wondering where this was going at around 30% and by 44% decided to give up. 44% and we've hardly met the hero, Ash! We've had the barest glimpse of him and it's so frustrating, he seems like a fascinating character but we've barely met him. I want to know more about him. We've learned all about the heroine, her limp, her sisters, her mama, etc etc. C'mon! This is just too SLOW! Get a move on! DNF from me and I am quite cross about it.
- The editing is poor because of grammar mistakes which sours the believability of the dialog. It’s a shame because the writing is good and the characterizations are very well thought out. I blame the editor for allow egregious grammatical errors that make me wince. Nobody educated would have said, “...with my friends and I†instead of “my friends and meâ€, and so a careful reader just gets angry at the poor job of editing done these days!!
- Georgiana Hall and Captain Asher Brandt both have scars and disabilities that makes it so that others do not look their way, thus not seeing what special people they are. A story I enjoyed reading. This is a new Author to me and I will be looking for more books by her.
- When I first started reading this story, I felt I had stepped back into the time of Jane Austen. The writing style was more romanticism and took me by surprise but I soon settled down and enjoyed the story! It made me remember why I loved that style and how the focus was more on the imperfections of characters and not just the beauty.
This is a classic tale of Beauty and the Beast but with several twist that made it stand on it's own. The heroine herself, Georgianna Hall, aged twenty three has her own irregularity with a limp. In those times it was really difficult not to be almost shunned by society with any abnormality. But she is beautiful and really likes to dance and enjoy herself!
Captain Asher Brandt on the other hand, has been scarred from the war and had withdrawn into himself. But he is being forced to try to find a wife so he can continue to have guardianship over his niece, his last piece of his brother he has left.
To put these two together begins a dance that has a few twist and turns and a long journey to their happy ending! Immerse yourself in a wonderful story that will have you turning the pages to see what will happen. This is the first book I have read by this author but I look forward to many more!

16 UP. No Cursing. SEXUAL CONTENT NO - I'm always a huge fan of fairy tale adaptations, but this one was a little disappointing. I thought the heroine a bit too.... words fail... she could have been more accepting, given her own disability.
I liked it, I just wish there was more interaction between the two main characters. The beginning was great, but then it kind of got lost before coming together in the end.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. - The heroine was gawd awful. She spent the entire book trying to run away from the hero and she treated him horribly only to fall desperately in love with him on the last page. I did not care for her or her reasoning at all. As for the book it dragged on and on then abruptly ended. I dont think I will read any more books by this author.
- I really liked this book. The characters were fleshed out. Both hero and heroine were flawed physically but also emotionally. The story could be called slow but I thought it was excellent writing.
Highly recommended.
