The Pressure Principle Handle Stress Harness Energy and Perform When It Counts Dave Alred MBE 9780241975084 Books Reviews

  • I loved it, money well spent! I had seen Dr Alred's at professional golf tournaments working with some of the best players in the world and I was curious about what they were doing . The book gave me a clear picture on what he works on getting the player to perform under pressure, when it matters the most. Book gives you a very interesting insight of both professional golf and rugby. Worth the read!
  • Simple, direct, easy-to-understand advice on how to prepare for pressure and then to preform in the midst of it. Excellent approaches, thoughts, and techniques for any sport. Dr. Alred gives many examples of actual events--both successes and failures--that anyone can learn from and apply to their own performance on the fairways, pitch, or field. Direct and to the point instruction and advice. If you compete in any sport at any level then this book is one you need to read.
  • As an experienced Golfer I have read many books over the years, trying to find a way to shore up my mental failings. This book brought it all together. Many of the books I had read were mentioned, and each in it's context had excellent ideas. But this book brought them all together adding in some key insights to make a clear and executable "Process". My journey with this process is yet young but already I look forward to playing with an anticipation I have not felt for years. So even if my scores don't improve (but I think they will) I find myself fascinated and curious to explore my potential to perform under pressure using Mr Alred's concept. So my thanks for your book and I heartily recommend it to others. I also find myself keen to see how I can adapt the concepts to other "Pressure" situations I find myself in in life generally.
  • Dave Alford uses his experience of working with Elite performers to breakdown the key aspects of peak performance. I liked his use of anecdotes with Jonny Wilkinson in particular when discussing practice under pressure. In recent times there has been a lot spoken about focusing on process versus outcome. I now truly understand what that means. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their performance in sport or business.
  • The Pressure Principle gives excellent insight into the power of a Limitless Mindset and how to prepare for those moments that might define a career or simply making dinner for your in-laws.
  • Dave's book is masterful! I had the pleasure of working with him developing the elite coaching model for athletes and coaches.
He gives us all insight into his own successful coaching world and removes the mystery 'of pressure'. A must read for all involved in human development.
  • Great insight into performance barriers and how to overcome them. Useful tools to get to the next level. It's the process.
  • Thorough on psychological theory, very light on how to make practical use.
